layers of acrylic paint, glazes, ink, crayon, collage,
and pencil on canvas, 8”x10,” 2013Angela Rae Barribeau is a local artist (who lives in Fall Creek). As an x-ray technologist she works in grayscale. However, she loves to play in color, creating mixed-media paintings, jewelry, collage and journals.
“This piece is one of approximately 70 in a series that I did after taking an online class from an Arkansas artist, Mindy Lacefield. Using layers of marks, words, letters, numbers, quotes, scribbles, paint, paper, collage, alcohol inks, drips, scratches, and scrapes, a background is fashioned. Once I am happy with this base, I imagine a character emerging out of the layers. Again, using light layers of glaze and paint, I bring this character to life and its features into existence. I love creating in many art mediums. Painting, jewelry making, sewing, collage, quilting, binding my own journals and books, rubber stamping, making altered books – I get lost in the art making, and it is my playground!” – The Artist
