According to the Eau Claire County Recycling Program, county residents have been breaking records! Household recycling increased 15 percent last year to 141.2 pounds per person. Meanwhile, proper hazardous waste disposal increased 43 percent in 2013, while proper medication disposal has increased 85 percent. More good news: The increase in household recycling has finally pushed Eau Claire County past the statewide average of 140 pounds per resident. Sure, we didn’t exceed the average by much, but this is the first year we’ve been near it, and that’s something worth celebrating.
