The restaurant long known as Pizza Plus, 208 S. Barstow St., changed hands last year, and since then proprietor Benny Haas has worked to change the focus of the restaurant to encompass more than just pizza. Now he’s changing the name from “Pizza Plus” to simply “The Plus” to allow the restaurant to convey that it’s about more than sizzling-hot pies: It is a place that will soon be able to better accommodate music, too. A new patio and stage will soon be in place on the Graham Avenue side of the restaurant where people can enjoy live music during the summer; the space can also serve as a venue for larger events such as weddings. Haas hopes the space will attract a younger, more artistic crowd by making the space more inviting and versatile. We all know it’s a fact that pretty much everybody loves pizza and music, and by combining these two the downtown area will be given a little more life.
