Four Haiku

Gary Busha |

Fishing in the rain
The water welcomes
a large pike swimming

Fishing in the rain
Nothing biting.
A perfect night to fish.

Under a lilly pad
A silent pike and
Slow ascent of minnows

A big catch in the livebox
Gone in a sudden storm.
How many will bite again.

Gary Busha lived in Eau Claire during the middle '70s. The haiku above originally appeared in Busha's On the Dock (2012), and are reprinted by permission of the author. You can read a bit more about Gary in this review.
