Practice

Jason Splichal |

My son wraps his fingers
Around the slender neck
Is this your first time?
She asks
Yes
He says nervously
Go ahead; give it a try
She whispers
The sound is so beautiful
I feel like I don’t even belong in the room
You can almost hear the relief
In her smile
You’re a natural
She says
Thank you
He says
And leans into the cello
Like a curve
