If you’re a fan of air shows you may want to sit down before you read this: The Chippewa Valley Air Show has officially been cancelled. The news comes after the cancellation of the Blue Angels and other military display teams due to the sequestration budget cuts on the U.S. military. In a statement, the executive board said, “The board felt a show this year was no longer viable. The military normally provides some of the static or ground displays, along with demos of various aircraft.” The event is a massive fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of America. If you’re optimistic, you can get your hopes slightly raised, though. If the sequestration cuts are reversed with ample time to prepare, the board may still be able to get a show together this year. Either way, they are still working on planning the 2014 and 2015 shows.
