Catherine Emmanuelle Named Newest City Council Woman
A seat lay open in the Eau Claire City Council that needed to be filled. Catherine Emmanuelle, an activist hailing from Oakland, California, will fill that space. She graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and a minor in Economics. She was appointed last Tuesday and will officially begin her term on the 24th. Emmanuelle will fill the spot of Dana Wachs, who left the council in August. The non-profit worker was chosen over Dave Strobel, a businessman in downtown Eau Claire. She has worked with Clear Vision Eau Claire, as well as other organizations in the area. Perhaps the 32-year-old will bring a fresh set of eyes to the council, we shall see. Either way, her term will go until April 2, when she’ll have the chance to try to beat out others to gain a full term.
