Ever worry that you are too old for petting zoos or parades? Worry no longer. With a wide variety of events, International Fall Fest provides the opportunity for all ages to channel their inner child while learning a great deal. IFF aims to celebrate the different cultures of the Chippewa Valley by giving those who attend opportunities to learn about the cultural diversity of the surrounding area while establishing downtown Eau Claire as a fun place for families to gather. “Fall Fest provides the opportunity for people to react to and see the diverse cultural aspects and people that make up the Chippewa Valley,” says Festival Coordinator Salina Heller. Some of the events include a petting zoo and pony rides, family fun zone, carnival, ethnic food and crafts, Parade of Nations and performances on the World Stage. The Parade of Nations will feature diverse floats created by local organizations and businesses designed to represent the various cultures of the Chippewa Valley. The World Stage will provide a space for those interested to perform an act; some of the performances on the World Stage will include Irish dances and a Hmong Cultural Dance. New to the Fall Fest this year is an event taking place at 12pm called Masskrugstemmen, a competitive game that is traditional in Germany wherein competitors hold a liter of root beer in front of them until their triceps give out. Upon learning of its recent popularity throughout the world, Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. decided that it would be a fun addition to Fall Fest. International Fall Festival is a fundraiser for DECI, a non-profit organization that aims to revitalize and promote downtown Eau Claire through the evolvement of businesses, housing, cultural enrichment and by putting on various activities.
