Beginning at 10pm on July 28, Pioneer Bar and Grill is hosting Party at the Pio, a day (and night) of drinks, disc-golf, and ditties. This event, taking place at the Pioneer, is being held as a launch for the newly formed Menomonie Area Disc Golf Organization (MADGO). “Besides how ridiculously fun it’s going to be, it’s being used...to pull in extra support from the community,” says one of many organizers Matthew Clark. A local musician himself, Clark has scheduled several area acts for the event. Party at the Pio will feature free live music from Adelyn Rose, Broken Lanes, Color Pharmacy, Dead Dogs, Evergreen Grass Band and The Frenettes. All ages are invited until 10pm, when the kitchen closes, and then the event becomes 21+. The tournament is being hosted by Simple Sports, and held on the Pioneer’s Lambs Creek Disc Golf Course. Prospective frolfers are invited to register at Simple Sports in Menomonie for $30, and players will be privy to a free spaghetti dinner at the event. The main attraction will be a singles tournment, with smaller tournaments following. The proceeds will go directly to MADGO.”We’re in the process of chartering the organization...so the money will be put right back into disc golf courses in the area,” says Clark. Registration for the tourny is at 10am, it begins at 11am, and the music starts at noon.
