Explore Fashion Without Fabric

Tasked with creating clothing without using fabric of any kind, UW-Stout design students have their work cut out for them. Every spring, the university’s Art and Design Department puts on its popular “Fashion Without Fabric” fashion show. “A lot of students want to show off their work, (so) they tell their family and friends,” said Sara Koller, this year’s show coordinator. “It’s good publicity for the art department and for the campus.” Koller noted her favorite piece from previous years was a dress made entirely of bottlecaps. Other items that have been used include vinyl records, film reels, and coffee filters. This year’s show, themed “Virtues and Vices,” is at 8pm on Saturday, April 21, in the Great Hall of Memorial Student Center on the UW-Stout campus. The show sells out every year, making tickets a hot commodity. Get yours online at tickets.uwstout.edu. Tickets are $6 for UW-Stout students, $7.50 for faculty and staff, and $10 for the general public.
