Local Pre-Teens Create Their Own Stage Musical

We have new playwrights in our midst. Only this time they’re not from Community Arts or are local English teachers trying their hand at something new – they’re fifth graders. That’s right, Altoona fifth graders Anna Haigh and Linnea McClintock have written a musical stage production called The Gift of Friendship. We don’t know much about said production, other than it’s “about the ups-and-downs of friendship” and it will premiere at The Grand Theatre on March 3 at 2:30pm. So while we can’t sell you on the juicy details, encouraging two youths with this amount of creative ambition in our midst might be worth the $5 cover alone. What Bon Iver did for us with music and Mike Perry did for us with writing, maybe now these girls are the key to a stage reputation. You never know …
