Anything But Stale: Day Old Bread Reunion Show
Day old bread as a food isn’t overly appetizing, but a jam-band of the same name draws a far larger crowd. Day Old Bread, a local band from the early 2000s consisting of Bill Hamilton (guitar/vocals), Nate Cherrier (drums/vocals), David Fairbairn (guitar/vocals), Dan Sebern (bass/vocals), and Billy Angell (keyboard/vocals), is coming together for a reunion show at The Mousetrap, the band’s old “stomping grounds.” The band used to play every Thursday night at The Mousetrap during its heyday, said Hamilton. At the time, Hamilton and Sebern were UWEC students. The rest – Cherrier, Fairbairn, and Angell – were in the area at the time, and the band fell together. “This unit of guys playing [the reunion show] together was the unit that was together the longest and played together the longest,” said Hamilton. “It was kind of a fun setup … it was like love at first sight.” Hamilton said the catalyst for the reunion show was a friend’s wedding that will take place the weekend before, drawing a lot of old friends back into town. The band members themselves have spread out over time, with Hamilton and Cherrier living as far away as Arizona. “Our fan base was a ‘friend base,’ ” said Hamilton, noting that avid Day Old Bread fans called themselves “loafers” and tossed bread around at shows. “There will be people in the area that remember the name. A lot of us who still keep in touch will be making this a fun hangout outside of the band playing a reunion show."
