Eau Claire Locales Featured in Video Tutorials for Cinematography Software

Images of Eau Claire created by a local videographer are now being streamed essentially as tutorials for the brand new software used to create them. Eau Clairian Scott Welsch was one of the first cinematographers to create guides on the brand new camera software, and as such now stream on the blog of Phillip Bloom, a very big deal in the cinematography world. Creator of the software, Magic Lantern, has also picked up the tutorials and as such their website now features recognizable downtown locales. “Phoenix Park is a good place to start walking around and see the buildings, the bridges, and cool structures around the downtown area,” Welsch says. “It’s the most diverse in terms of cool stuff to see in the smallest area.” The high dynamic range software featured in the videos is used for high contrast scenes, as you can see from the triptych Scott created above. “It takes all the highlights from overexposed footage and all the shadows from underexposed footage and merges them together without one being too bright or one being too dark,” Welsch says.
