Keb’ Mo’ Cometh
legendary smooth grooves heading to The State Theatre
Keb’ Mo,’ born Kevin Moore back in 1951, plays with his whole soul and a diverse repertoire of blues, jazz, R&B, and other sounds. Having earned three Grammy Awards during his already lengthy career – in 1996 for Just Like You, in 1998 with his album Slow Down, and for 2004’s Keep It Simple – means you should pause for a listen. Many of you have seen him on a viral video called Playing For Change, a project involving musicians around the world uniting in song with One Love, by Bob Marley. This organization supports positive change in our world through music and arts education programs. Keb’ Mo’ released his newest album, The Reflection, in late 2011, the product of two years hard work and plenty of personal growth as he focused on family and moved to Nashville where he now has a home studio and his own record label, Yolabelle International. Keb’ Mo’ will play The State Theatre on Sunday, Jan. 22. His smooth, melodic grooves and folk influences feel perfect for a relaxed Sunday evening downtown and will keep you dancing all week.
