If you’re looking for a traditional and iconic way to usher in the holiday season, bring the family to experience one of the most beloved tales of all time. The Eau Claire Children’s Theatre is scheduled to produce the classic holiday favorite, Miracle on 34th Street. As a variation of the original beloved family film, starring Maureen O’Hara and Natalie Wood, the musical versions promises to be as touching as it is nostalgic. Santa Claus does exist to those who believe. When a man claiming to be jolly St. Nick is institutionalized, it takes the commitment of a brave young girl, untainted by the cynicism of age, to convince her mother and the state of New York that Santa is indeed real. The musical, directed by ECCTs Executive Director Wayne Marek, follows the film storyline closely, and is an adaptation of the 1960s Broadway production with the book, lyrics, and music by Meredith Wilson, author of The Music Man. This is the first time the show will be performed in Eau Claire. In addition to the show, ECCT will be holding its annual holiday silent auction during each performance. Audience members have a chance to bid on and win a variety of items and gifts.
