“My art revolves mainly around humans, but once in a while a sneaky creature pops in. This guy was drawn while watching the PBS show Nature, and the sea lions in the show acted so hilariously human that drawing one came naturally. When I’m not watching television, I make posters for music shows in the Wausau area, paint pretty pictures for my art degree at UWEC, and eat lots of great food. Pad Thai, anyone?”  – The Artist

What we were thinking: “Our cover for this cycle comes from the talented Catie Griffiths of Eau Claire. "Sea Lion" is a mixed media project incorporating water color, graphic and oil pastels to achieve the foreground and background – and also to give the piece texture with its hefty brushstrokes front and center throughout the sea lion's mane. Despite a lack of these creatures in the Chippewa Valley, the artistic execution and the creative perspective portraying the profile of the sea lion is something  this art savvy community should enjoy."
