Kristin Frosch |

One of the 25 inaugural members of the White House Council for Community Solutions, social architect and visionary, Bill Strickland, is scheduled to speak as part of the UWEC Forum Series in November. Consulting community leaders, schools, and corporations, Strickland and his team created innovative arts and vocational training centers that have given disadvantaged children and teens the tools and skills necessary to compete in a competitive and globalized world. A winner of the MacArthur Fellowship “genius” award, Strickland founded the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, and has served on the board of the National Endowment of the Arts at Harvard University. Strickland, author or the best seller, Make the Impossible Possible, was also mentioned in the 2010 documentary on the state of the educational system in America, Waiting for Superman. The Forum presentation, titled The Art of Leadership and Business of Social Change, is funded by the students of UWEC, Visit Eau Claire, Wisconsin Public Radio, WHYS Radio, and Community Television.
