Literary Students' Work Published in New Collection

The Literacy Volunteers of the Chippewa Valley trains volunteers to educate adults and families in reading and writing. This group was founded in 1986 after they recognized literacy skills as a critical need in the Chippewa Valley. Core programs include one-on-one tutoring, family literacy, and workplace education. Every year Literacy Volunteers encourages students to write stories following a pre-selected theme. This year that theme was “My Perfect Day.” Writing these stories encourages the students to have more confidence in their abilities. You can pick up a copy of the work this theme yielded (both essays and poetry) at any of their three offices in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, or Menomonie. You can also read them at your local public library. For more information, check out www.lvcv.org
