Jane Evershed

Jane Evershed has been painting for 25 years since she arrived in the US from South Africa in 1984. Her art has been published nationally since 1989 and she has won many awards especially for her Power of Woman and Scarred Sacred Earth series. She reveals an ongoing interest in seeing humanitarian justice highlighted in the world. Her art shamelessly exposes the major injustices incurred by the existing global system that shapes our lives and seeks to determine our future. Evershed was recently selected as one of 20 women artists from across the US to exhibit at the 100th International Women’s Day celebration in New York. She now resides in the North Woods as an earthling. .

What we were thinking: “One word: lush! At this time of year in the northwoods, one can not gaze through any forest due to the thick foliage. This theme of seasonal bloom is depicted in Jane Evershed's painting Gathering in The Garden of Global Consequence. Standing at the whopping dimensions of 48" x60," this counter mainstream depiction of divine femininity (created in a vibrant garden of brilliant colors) draws the eye into each brush stroke. The symmetry of the piece also plays a big role in grasping your attention and bringing you up to the masthead.” – V1 Designer Josh Smeltzer
