Calling all bluegrass fans! Music vendors from as far as Rochester and an all-new banjo contest are just a few of the major surprises in store for the second annual Grass on the Chippewa event in Durand. This bluegrass bonanza spanning two days will feature some of the most unique and musically talented local and regional bluegrass performers. Now, let’s put this into perspective – 13 bands, dueling banjos, belting harmonies, and fiddling mandalins … outdoors … for free. Sounds appealing doesn’t it? For those of you “out-of-towners” worried about guzzling up your gas tanks, don’t get discouraged just yet. Free tent camping will be allowed, so pack up the grill, grab some s’mores, and head on down to Memorial Park. If you’re not to keen on giving up space for food, there’s a solution for that, too! Food and concessions are available on the grounds throughout the weekend extravaganza. To top off the bluegrass celebration, Ruby Magpie, one of the youngest and most sought-after bands will be performing. Members, which include veterans from other bands, are on the bluegrass circuit ready for their next big break, but Grass on the Chippewa nabbed them before they shoot off to stardom. Other acts include The Seegar Boys, Evergreen Grass Band, Stoop Singers, Gypsy Lumberjacks, Kings Countrymen, .357 String Band, and Two Many Banjos.
