BIG DONUT MAN

The Salvation Army has celebrated National Donut Day for decades, and big markets around the country get in on the act. Well now you can add Eau Claire to the list, as the one-and-only home of “The Donut Man” has an event in store. On June 4, Joel’s Water Street Auto will fry up fresh, made-to-order donuts for kids to decorate and consume for free (adults will have to pay a bit). And as if you didn’t guess already, they’re welcoming photos with the infamous fiberglass Donut Man. But the best is yet to come: a donut eating contest taking part on a stage in which people will down donuts off strings without using their hands. “It should be a freaking hoot,” Joel said. If you’re not sure you want to drop by yet, the auto body shop is making a video on how this will go down, and you’ll be able to find it on VolumeOne.org the second we get it!
