Joe Neeb

“basement and campfire musician” cuts a record

What a Neeb.

What a Neeb.

It’s a typical Saturday night at the Mabel Tainter Theater. A soft voice croons over the crowd, who is listening intently as Menomonie High School senior Joe Neeb gives them a taste of his musical talents. Joe plays what he describes as “folk and acoustic sounding” songs, but has ventured into areas lately that are more “poppy” than he is used to. A self-described “basement and campfire musician,” Joe received his knack for guitar from his mother, who was a guitarist for a local polka band. He also received lessons from Jim Nelson (father of James Nelson of local band The Cutaways). Although, it wasn’t until he got a call from Steven Keller (Newsong Studios in Menomonie) and recorded his debut album that Neeb started to put his musical talents to good use. Keller is also featured in the album on drums and helped extensively with songwriting and musical arrangements. Enjoy this local boy while you can, as he received a football scholarship to North Michigan University.
