An artist working from photographs is not a new concept, but rarely is the final product exhibited with a snap-shot of the inspiration. Intended to illustrate how painters interpret their photo references, the Chippewa Valley Watercolor Artists and the Beaver Creek Photo Club have fused two media in the three-part show Painting Through the Lens. displays the original photo and the painting it inspired side-by-side, demonstrating the different ways spirit is captured in art. “It is an innovative melding of two art forms,” Bonnie Fetzek said of the 80-piece exhibit. The opening show from April 5 to May 3 will be at the Beaver Creek. The work will then move to Coffee Grounds from May 4 to 31, with an expected final show September-October at the Heyde Center. A gala event will be held at the Beaver Creek April 17, 1-4pm, where there will be refreshments, live music by the MJ Consort and a children’s painting activity. Most of the work is for sale.
