It’s time to drag the spring clothes out of the attic and dust them off for wearing. But, if you’re like me, you’re sure to be in need of a few new items for summer. And if that’s the case, consider looking at the new local apparel from Breath of Life.
Chippewa Valley natives Shayne Brown, Louis Janke, and Travis Raymond created Breath of Life Apparel last November in order to give a “fresh breath of style” to the clothing options that are available, CEO Shayne Brown said.
“We’re just trying to get artistic work out there,” he added.
Breath of Life, which is partnered with Menomonie’s Ambient Visions Ink, offers apparel with designs created entirely by the local trio. As of now, they offer T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, and hats, but plan to add jeans, shorts, dress shirts, and sweaters to that list in the near future.
“The more choices our customers have, the happier they are,” he said. “We do what we can for the customers."
Tyler Brown, Breath of Life’s marketing manager and Shayne’s brother, brings together the clothing line with local artists to help promote each other’s names. The clothing line currently sponsors hip-hop artists Breakneck the Mage and Kuley, plus the Chippewa Falls band Assembly Required, and Brad Hetchler, an up-and-coming snowboarder from River Falls. The artists wear Breath of Life clothing at their performances, while Janke sells their merchandise at the shows.
The goal in creating Breath of Life was to give back to the community, Brown said. Although they have made sales, most of the work Brown and his partners do is for charity and non-profit. Breath of Life is different, he said, because they put effort into what they do, and don’t just do it for the money.
“We wanted to come up with real artistic concepts with reasonable prices,” Brown said.
