Never let local talents go unacknowledged (and boy, do we really have it in this area). Now in its 32nd year, the annual ArtsWest juried show at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Library is about to be underway again, featuring a wide range of local artists who are always eager to share their imagination. Judged this year by sculptor Andrea Myklebust, executive director of the Lake Pepin Art & Design Center, the show will exhibit 52 works chosen from 162 submissions, representing 48 artists ages 18 or older. Works include paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures – you name it. “This is a really great way to feature work of outstanding artists in the area. It’s amazing the quality of work that comes in, it’s always been a show that reflected the very best talent in the Chippewa Valley,” said exhibit coordinator Bess Arneson. Selection of work is entirely up to the judge and viewers can expect a mix of media and subjects. Opening February 27, the exhibit will run through April 8, with an artist’s reception and prize announcements to be held March 3 at 7pm.
