The godfather of Eau Claire’s kubb frenzy, Eric Anderson, has created a new magazine called Kubbnation to celebrate all things kubb. He hopes that it’ll draw in new players to this booming lawn game, which has taken on a social change identity in Eau Claire as players have embraced the motto “kubb unites people and creates peace on Earth.” Kubbnation gives updates on tournaments, friendlies, and clubs. As a side bonus, Anderson also wants to promote appreciation of Kubb’s native Nordic culture. Although Eric wrote most of the articles (including a very helpful explanation of the rules and variations), he happily included those by other kubbsters. The first issue has hit selected stands in the Valley and can be found on WisconsinKubb.com. The next issue might not be out until early 2012, and Eric welcomes written submissions, photos, or any other ideas from kubb enthusiasts.
