Film Festival Takes Over Stevens Point & Amherst
The Central Wisconsin Film Festival holds an annual screening of multiple award-winning, Wisconsin-directed independent films. This year’s festival will be held November 5-7 at three locations in Amherst and Stevens Point. Going on its fifth year, the festival will include shorts, documentaries, feature-length films, and, for the first time this year, several foreign films. The three venues include Rodgers Campus Cinema and The Garage at Emy J’s in Stevens Point and (on Friday only) the Jensen Center in Amherst. The big draw this year will be the Wisconsin shot feature-length film Baraboo produced by Mary Sweeney and Sabrina Sutherland. Made by an entirely local cast and crew, Baraboo was filmed predominantly in Devil’s Lake and Cambridge. The festival is recommended for audiences ages 14 and up as some of the films may include strong language and themes inappropriate for younger viewers.
