The Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Department recently opened a new All-Terrain Vehicle trail. The trail, which is about five miles and located about 3.5 miles north of Augusta, connects with existing ATV routes on county forestland. A parking lot was created off Highway 27 so people have easy access to park and ride the five-mile trail to the existing trails. The five-mile trail, route expansion, and parking lot were funded by the state ATV program, but the Parks & Forest Department staff completed the job. Director John Staszcuk estimated the improvement cost just over $3,000.
