The Chippewa Valley is excited to showcase talented student-musicians with the Youth Symphony’s upcoming Pops Concert. It’s their first concert of the 2009-2010 season, located at the Heyde Center for the Arts, on Nov. 3 at 7pm. A few days later on Nov. 7, the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra will be hosting the world premiere of two local compositions, as well as a jazz piece and a Mozart symphony. Ethan Wickman’s Les Jeunes et les Immortels (“The Young and the Immortal”) and Jerry Edinger’s Symphony No. 8 will be performed in Grace Lutheran Church at 7:30pm. Both musicians are from the area and add something profound to the Valley’s music scene. “Edinger’s music sounds very much like Mozart, but with a twist,” said the conductor, Ivar Lunde Jr. Not to mention, seven talented string players from the Youth Symphony will join the ECCO musicians in the symphony’s fourth and final movement.
