Chippewa Valley Book Fest Announces Lineup
Celebrating 10 years of the written word, the Chippewa Valley Book Festival will host 17 free (with the exception of meals) community events from October 22 through October 25, all of which are open to the public. The festival, themed The Language and Stories of Home, will feature authors for adults, young adults, and children, at various locations throughout Eau Claire. This year’s line-up includes Kao Kalia Yang, author of The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir; Wisconsin’s Poet Laureate Marilyn Taylor, whose award-winning poetry is featured in several journals and anthologies; UWEC professor emeritus John Hildebrand, author of three award-winning books, including Mapping the Farm: The Chronicle of a Family; Fall Creek native Todd Boss, author of Yellowrocket, named one of the best books of poems in 2008; and John Friesen, author of young adult title, Jerk, California, winner of The Schneider Family Award from The American Library Association in 2008. The Literary Arts Committee of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council coordinates the festival in cooperation with the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library.
