Once again it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, the time of year when we all celebrate the same holiday and pretend that we all came from the same country. Going along with some of its more randy traditions, St. Patty’s comes chock full of the always-enjoyable parade. This year WHYS Radio is teaming up with the Acoustic Café to bring you the shortest, and therefore most efficiently enjoyable, parade around. The third annual Shortest Sidewalk Parade will meet at the lot adjacent to the station at 5 pm, and will then depart at 5:30 for a six-minute march to the Acoustic Café, where participants will be treated to a pub-like atmosphere filled with music, refreshments, and plenty of chances to tell your favorite limerick or joke into the roaming wireless microphone as the night rolls on. The evening will be filled with festive tunes from three bands: Anam Cara, The Barnyard Banshees, and The New North String Band. The Eau Claire Folk Dance Society will be on hand for some impromptu Irish jig lessons, and the entire event will be broadcast live on WHYS radio. The parade and following merriment are open to all ages, with donated funds going to support everyone’s favorite local radio station.
