Stout Student Snags Hepatitis Poster Prize

Caitlin Heidbrink |

UW-Stout art student and Colfax native Kayla Langhans took first place in the inaugural National Hepatitis Poster Contest. Her poster grabbed judges’ attention by posing the question, “Considering having some needlework done?” with the image of a brightly tattooed female back. Langhans used her imagery and text to communicate the importance of a hepatitis B vaccination. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Viral Hepatitis sponsored the contest, in addition to the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable. Judges gathered from many backgrounds, including state health departments and a public relations agency. Langhans’ poster and other national entrants’ work can be viewed at www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/.
