four Hollywood films start shooting in Wisconsin

Michael Mann and the cast of Public Enemies may be done filming in Wisconsin, due to the pending SAG strike, but it seems word of the tax break legislation that helped bring them to Wisconsin in the first place have spread like wildfire. According to Film Wisconsin, there are more film projects than ever unfolding across our great state. Over the next few months four films, as well as a number of TV projects from MTV, VH1, Fox, Comedy Central, and other stations, will begin shooting throughout Wisconsin. Most of the projects, such as Fort McCoy, a WWII period piece set in and around the titular military base near La Crosse, seem intent on hiring as many local workers as possible. The producers of Motel, Gas Station, a character study centering on locals staying in a rural Wisconsin hotel, promise to capture the culture of the region. Nonames, a film about friends living in small town Wisconsin, is already in pre-production in Wisconsin Rapids. Meanwhile, Nephilim, a supernatural thriller produced by Wisconsin native Susan Moses, begins shooting Sept. 13.
