Volume One & The Local Store
BEFORE & AFTER

2012 Remodeling & Renovation

Volume One began renovation of their 125-year-old building (and former SDS Architects space) in January of 2012. After a five-month process of demolition and construction, V1 moved in on June 1, with the new Local Store and Volume One Gallery opening at the end of that month.

Much of the space was dramatically opened up – ceilings were raised, walls were brought down to allow more light flow, and an open floor plan for both Volume One's business offices and the Local Store were embraced. Original wood floors were restored, brick walls were exposed and cleaned, and the historic structure was strengthened. Highly efficient heating and cooling systems were installed, as well as smart lighting and LEED-inspired attributes.
