Craft Time: Pot o' Gold

V1 Staff |

Named after a 5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland, Saint Patrick’s Day has become a cultural mainstay with plenty of parades, potatoes, and pinching. While little ones cannot partake in the traditional beer and whiskey sampling, they certainly can enjoy a little luck o’ the Irish with these festive pots of gold!

Materials

• Black Craft Paint
• Green Craft Paint
• Gold Paint
• Terracotta pots
• Paint Brushes
• Rolos

Instructions

1. Paint a pot one solid color and allow to dry.

2. Once dry:

a. Leprechaun Hat – Simply paint a black stripe around the lip for the belt. Use the gold paint  (we used fabric paint because it’s all we had on hand and it created a raised surface) to make a buckle.

b. Pot o’ Gold – Use the gold paint to embellish.  We did a horseshoe, but basic dots, a four-leaf clover, or dollar signs would all be cute.

3. Once everything is dry, fill with Rolos.
