What’s going on over in Chippewa Falls?

Just read an infuriatingly short article on Chippewa.com about what would appear to be an amazingly spontaneous outbreak of fun and weirdness. The comment string after the article clocks in with ten times as many words. From the article:

  • There was Santa Claus hanging around a reindeer, naturally. Then there was a banana along with three gorillas, whose plans for the banana were unknown.
  • Chippewa Falls Police were involved in all of this thanks to an anonymous call at 9:30 p.m. Friday on North Bridge Street and West Grand Avenue.
  • The caller claimed several people dressed in costumes were walking in lanes of traffic.
  • Not true, said the people. They said they remained on the sidewalk, waving.
  • With that, the police left.

Unfortunately, that’s all we know. Chippewa.com’s commenters are mostly arguing over what police resources should be used for, and there’s absolutely no discussion about how cool their town is. Priorities, people, priorities. Does anyone have any idea what was going on?

In what I can only assume to be related news, the monkey that escaped from Irvine Park is still on the loose. Oh, and remember this, from last May?
