Ed Gein ... The Musical!

Yep, a production company out of Appleton called DaviesRussell is making a musical comedy out of Ed Gein’s life: Ed Gein: The Musical. Remember Ed Gein? Norman Bates from Psycho was based on his life because he robbed a bunch of graves, killed a bunch of people, ate them, and made household items out of selected body parts … to put it lightly. From the TheNorthwesterner.com out of Oshkosh:

  • "This is a complete weird twist on Ed Gein. It's in the same vein as the movie 'Sweeney Todd' with a lot of comedic elements. It's fun with a lot of great music and is historically accurate on the life of Gein," said Dan Davies, co-owner of the production company, who also wrote the script and plays Gein the movie. The film was shot mostly in Omro, Wis., where Gein spent some of his younger years, as opposed to rural Plainfield (where all that killin’ a-happened) because, according to the filmmakers, the village of Plainfield is not "very receptive" to anything Gein-related. DaviesRussell is currently getting Ed Gein: The Musical tweaked up for a DVD release later in 2009. They hope it’ll get picked up by cable TV.
