Chippewa River Monster 2: The Return of Nessie

The saga continues! The artist(s) responsible for the Loch Ness Monster statue (which appeared in the Chippewa River a few weeks ago*) have created a brand new, better, faster, stronger Nessie and placed it in almost the same spot as the original one. We just noticed it back this morning. A quick email to the anonymous Nessie-maker produced the following reply:

There is a new Loch Ness Monster in the same spot now.    We redesigned  the new one  to float like a raft – it is chained to the bottom and is setup to raise and lower up to 10 feet with the changing water levels. It has 9 small reflectors around the raft a red one for  her eye. She is built to float sideways in low water and straight down river in high water. Due to high waters she's not as far out as she was before, we will move her out further once the water goes down. We used the same mold pattern as the first Nessie. Not sure if its still legal with the DNR.  If its not maybe we can change it to be legal. I’m sure they will let us know.   We want to thank all of you for your great comments. and the first Nessie is doing fine we are looking for a new place for her because she’s afraid of that  darn DNR.

A raft? That’s pretty clever. But unfortunately, we doubt the DNR will see it that way. The Phoenix also says it is in negotiations with Menard’s – as the company has expressed interest in placing Nessies in the decorative ponds in front of many of their stores.
