RELEASED: Nov. 15, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites all poets to enter a seasonal haiku writing contest. "Literary smArts: a seasonal haiku contest" welcomes students, faculty, staff and the public to submit entries that embraces spring, summer, fall or winter in haiku form.

Submissions will be accepted through Dec. 3.

According to organizer Dr. Blake Westerlund of the University Writing Center, the event is a fun and relaxed way to promote writing at the end of a busy semester. Other sponsors of the contest are McIntyre Library/Collaborative Learning Center and the University Bookstore.

For more information and to submit haikus electronically, visit any of the following websites: University Writing Center, University Bookstore or McIntyre Library. Winners will receive University Writing Center T-shirts and other prizes.

Questions may be directed to Dr. Blake Westerlund at 715-836-2644 or westerbr@uwec.edu.

So if you're looking for a way to relax and have fun, a haiku may be the way to go.
