"Where the Lilacs Grow" - Jeanne Anderson
Jeanne Anderson will provide the history of Happy Island and Old Meridean. The Chippewa River in Dunn County is host to an island that once was the home of a logging town, called Meridean, and eight farms. Originally about 1800 acres, the island is now a forest plantation owned by Dunn County.
The book, “Where the Lilacs Grow: The Story of Happy Island and Old Meridean,” tells the history of the island and the people who lived there through stories and pictures.
