Calling all jazz fans: Get ready for a live event straight from the streets of Minneapolis and Chicago. On Oct. 25, Twin Talk and the Paul Hecht Trio will perform at The Plus (208 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire) starting at 7:30pm.

Twin Talk is based in Minneapolis and has been performing together for more than 10 years. The band consists of Dustin Laurenzi (reeds), Katie Ernst (bass nad vocals), and Andrew Green (percussion), and while they are deeply rooted in the jazz genre, they often perform more spontaneously and write music all together. This idea is reflected in the group's name, as “Twin Talk” is a phenomenon in which some twins can develop a secret language.

Ernst will also be performing with S. Carey and John Raymond in celebration of their new album, Shadowlands, at the Masonic Temple (616 Graham Ave., Eau Claire) on Oct. 1.

Paul Hecht, an Eau Claire musician, met the members of Twin Talk while performing in Chicago and immediately connected with their sound, knowing he wanted to perform with them one day. After reaching out to The Plus, the opportunity to take the stage together became a reality.

“Performing with Twin Talk was exciting to me because they are a nontraditional jazz band and some of the things that they’re interested in doing are some of the things I’m also interested in experimenting with,” Hecht said.

Hecht will be opening for Twin Talk in his new trio, with Grayson Peterson (bass) and Pete James Johnson (drums). With the show being so close to Halloween, the trio is going to be performing original music as well as David Bowie’s album, Outside, about a serial killer, and tunes from British rapper Tricky.

Tickets for the show are $20 in advance at VolumeOneTickets.org or $25 at the door.
