A two-year veteran of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate will now be representing university students statewide. Ryan Ring, a sophomore from Howard studying finance, was recently appointed by Gov. Scott Walker as a representative of traditional students on the UW System Board of Regents. His term on the 18-member board will last two years. The Board of Regents sets rules and policies for the entire UW System, including setting budgets and tuition. Ring previously served as an on-campus and off-campus student senator in the UWEC student government and was a member of commissions and committees including the Finance Commission, the Student Office of Sustainability, Intergovernmental Affairs, and the Information Technology Commission. “Ryan has been a dedicated student leader ever since he came to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire,” said UWEC Student Body President Katy McGarry. “Ryan has always been eager to represent his peers through his work on the Student Senate and will continue this effort as he serves the students of the UW System. We are very proud of Ryan and know that he will do a great job in his new position.”
