While trains are inherently an outdoor mode of transportation, the art of model trains stereotypically lives in basements and back rooms of houses around the United States and world. On July 8, those trains will see the light at the first annual Outdoor Model Train & Transportation Expo at Phoenix Park. This free family event will feature all things train, including live steam demonstrations, a model train swap meet and, of course, trains galore operating on all scales. There will also be plenty of history of the local railroad and manufacturing industries here in the Chippewa Valley. And to top it all off, the Phoenix Log Loader, which was built locally. If trains aren’t enough to bring you out, there will also be the four-wheeled attraction: Early Model T’s on display.
