When the Rassbach Museum hosted its first Collectors Day five years ago, 25 collectors showcased their items. It was quite a substantial number for an inaugural event. This year’s event – which continues to draw exhibitors of all ages – will take place at the museum, 1820 Russell Rd., Menomonie, from 1-4pm on Sept. 26.

Each year, Collectors Day draws diverse collections, from vintage and traditional items to unique and unexpected items, as well as new collectors and objects.

“We're also excited to see returning collectors participate year after year, often bringing a completely different collection to show,” said Sofi Doane, museum manager and curator.

The featured collections range in size. Participants don’t have to meet a set number for it to be considered “a collection.”

“It can be as small as a few items or as many as a hundred if not more,” Doane noted.

The ages of collectors span decades, ranging from seven-year-olds to those in their 90s. “One of the best things about the event is seeing people of all ages share their love of collecting,” Doane said.

Collectors Day also inspires conversations and connection, Doane added. She enjoys hearing what sparked others' interest to collect and why their collection is meaningful to them.

Attendees can participate in a raffle for items – each visitor gets one free raffle ticket – that could help start their own collections. Just before heading into the Rassbach Museum, folks will see the Badger Wheels Chapter of the Studebaker Driving Club's mini car show outside.

The 2026 Collectors Day event will be held at the Rassbach Museum (1820 Russell Rd., Menomonie) on Sept. 26 from 1-4pm, free to attend.
