Making Menomonie Laugh
Last Comic finalist Erin Jackson headlines the Mabel
Once known for performances at local universities and comedy clubs on the East Coast, Erin Jackson has quite a made a name for herself at comedy clubs and theaters all over the U.S. – not to mention, she’s got major TV credits under her belt. Next? She’s coming to Menomonie, where she’ll headline The Mabel Laughs, a newly established comedy series at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts that brings in some of the best and most unique headlining comedians from all over the country. And their upcoming pick for Oct. 25 is no exception: The Washington Post calls Jackson the “tell-it-to-you-straight girlfriend every woman should have in her crew.” Jackson promises a killer evening of comedy, punctuated by her conversational style and relatable humor. Jackson might credit her break-out moment to NBC’s Last Comic Standing, where she was crowned a semifinalist. Since then, she’s been a regular on Magic Johnson’s TV network, ASPiRE, and got huge laughs on Ellen and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. She has also appeared on Conan, and networks such as truTV and VH1. Although only in its early stages, The Mabel Laughs has the potential to become the new destination for comedy in Menomonie, and Jackson may just be the perfect headliner to get them there.
