Just in time for the height of summertime, Chippewa Falls has unveiled a new noteworthy addition to Erickson Park: a musical playground.
The City of Chippewa Falls announced the latest park installation on June 30, a project made possible by locals Norm and Mary Ellen Keller, in honor of their son. "After the recent passing of our son, Erich, we felt moved to do something positive for the community in his memory," the Kellers shared in a recent media release. "We hope the musical playground will bring joy to everyone who visits."
Parks Director John Jimenez echoed the Kellers' hope for community enjoyment. "The addition of a musical playground is a unique opportunity to bring people together through music, creativity, and play," he said.
The latest addition creates a playful, interactive offering at Erickson Park – which opened to the public in June 2019 after a roughly $2 million renovation.
Erickson Park is also home to a variety of recreational amenities across its 15 acres: a handicap accessible canoe/kayak and boat launch; picnic pavilions and gathering areas; an accessible boardwalk and fishing pier; walking and biking trails; 400 feet of frontage on the southeast shore of Glen Loch Lake, and more.
