It’s the start of a new movement in the Chippewa Valley: One the area’s first all-inclusive dance studios has opened its floors – TheDanceSpace.

The creative force behind it is Jasie Hogan, whose studio began in a small residential space in 2018. This year, her studio has expanded and moved into the Chippewa Commons Area in Chippewa Falls.

“I am passionate about making each and every dancer that comes into the studio fall in love with dance and have the passion to work hard and succeed in their dream in and out of the studio,” Hogan said. “I have been dancing my whole life starting right here in Chippewa Falls, and I found that passion for dance and I am now taking it to my dream of having a studio where I can pass my passion along."

From ballet, lyrical and jazz, and creative dance to acro class, hip-hop, tap, and stretch dance, TheDanceSpace offers all kinds of classes for all ages and ability levels. Classes start as young as 18 months and go through all ages. Lessons focus on not only method, but also on developing self-discipline and confidence.

There are a total of 32 classes in total running each week, with multiple levels and competition teams that permit dancers to be at a level right for them.

TheDanceSpace also gives lessons in ballet pointe, contemporary/modern, and musical theater.

Especially unique is sensory dance – designed for dancers with special needs to aid in different motor and sensory areas. Lessons accommodate various needs with softer music and work on balance, flexibility, listening, following directions, and more – all taught by Hagen, a licensed special education teacher.

“I love teaching not only dance but life skills and confidence in each dancer,” Hogan said. “I want to keep dance as normal as possible during this time and keep it special for each dancer.”
