Volume One to Stage Unique Live Show at Pablo Center in November, Calls for Stories

V1 Staff |

The soon-to-open Pablo Center at the Confluence is already inspiring new endeavors and creations throughout the valley, and we here at Volume One are no different. This November, Volume One will stage an original live show called True North: Real Wisconsin stories unfolding live on stage. At the heart of this two-night event is a series of true stories told by regional writers, alongside everyday folks with something remarkable to share (in fact, you could even be part of the show). These tales, whether a personal narrative or more journalistic in style, will come to life through an original score of music, dynamic multimedia (photographs, original films, or custom illustrations), and additional performers (such as dancers or singers). The show will be produced by Volume One editors, directed by Jake Lindgren (Population: 485), and the music will be written and performed by Sean Carey (Bon Iver) & The Bookhouse Boys. Part of the Pablo Center at the Confluence’s initial flurry of shows, True North will take place in the Jamf Theater – a flexible blackbox-style theater able to hold an intimate audience of 400 people. Two shows are planned for November 16 and 17, and each will include an after party following the performance where both the audience and the cast can have a few drinks and keep the creative energy flowing. True North is expected to become an annual autumn event, featuring new stories and new surprises each year. Those interested in submitting a story pitch can do so at VolumeOne.org/truenorth.
