If you don’t know Jack, you will soon enough. “Jack” and several of its variations – Jackson and Jaxson – were among the most popular baby names in the Chippewa Valley during the just-completed year, according to area hospitals.

At Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, eight Jacks and eight Jacksons were born; those monikers were tied with Owen for the No. 1 boys name of 2017. On the female side at the same hospital, a team of nine Noras edged out eight Abigails to win the popularity contest.

Parents who delivered at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie apparently had slightly more exotic taste, putting Jaxson at No. 1 (five were born) for boys and Adalyn, Amelia, and Aria (three babies each) in a three-way tie for girls.

At HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, meanwhile, Owen and Kinsley were tops for boys and girls, respectively. And while Jack didn’t even crack the top five at Sacred Heart, Jackson was the No. 1 boys name at HSHS St. Joseph’s in Chippewa Falls, while Ava was tops for girls. Here are the top ranked names for 2017 at each hospital:
