AHOY! Captain Coop's Trading Co. officially has a physical location since its opening at Market on River in Chippewa Falls.

Kris “Coop” Cooper started Captain Coop’s Beard Co. in 2019 as an online business and farmer’s market vendor after 20 years as a radio host. Now operating as Captain Coop’s Trading Co., the shop’s product selection has vastly expanded – and has a physical storefront, pirate-themed and all, at Market on River in Chippewa Falls.

When Coop was growing his beard – now in its full glory, years in the making – he couldn’t find a product he really liked. So, he handcrafted his own beard oils and balms, using an oil that absorbs well and doesn’t irritate the skin. Coop then added unique mixtures of essential oils to create scents that are unlike others on the market – and have some serious swagger. 

Since then, “the Queen” – Nicole Lillis – has joined the Captain Coop’s crew. Nicole loved the brand and had new ideas for products, including ones she could use in her Thai massage business. Together they researched and developed body lotions, body butters, and Tortuga personal lubricant.

From there the duo created their popular CBD and Delta gummies and pet tinctures. With the storefront opportunity at Market on River, they knew it was time: Captain Coop’s expanded its product offerings further with Captain Coop’s Pirate Life apparel (printed by Ambient Inks in Eau Claire) and artisan crafts from the Chippewa Valley, Thailand, and beyond. 

Coop and Nicole have a hand in every Captain Coop’s product on their shelves, including some of their current bestsellers such as Captain’s Quarters Beard Oils and Balms and Queen’s Treasures body lotion and butter. All Captain Coop’s products are manufactured locally in Bloomer, and their CBD and Delta products are crafted from Wisconsin-grown hemp.
